Highway to Hell
Monastrell er en lokal og oprindelig drue fra området (Franskmændene har ”stjålet” den, og kalder den for Mouvedre). Den er plantet i 600 meters højde, og vinstokkene er mere end 30 år gamle. Jordbunden er af ler og kalksten, og det gør at den kan holde på de få regndråber der kommer foroven.
Monastrell er ved at blive en af vores ynglingsdruer. Den er tit med i blended fra Sydrhône og Australien GSM (Grenache, Syrah & Mouvedre). Den har en dejlig forfriskende sødlig lakrids- og tobaknote, samtidig med at den er utrolig frisk i syren, og har en smag af brombær og mørke hindbær.
Vinen er håndhøstet og har været på amerikanske og franske egefade i 3 måneder.
Some people say that “Highway To Hell” was the name by which Canning Highway in Australia was known, which started where Bon Scott lived and finished at a bar called The Raffles, which was a famous rock’n’roll place in the 70s. As the road gets near the bar it starts to go noticeably downhill. So many people died at the crossroads that was at the top of the hill that it was called “Highway to Hell”. But that didn’t stop Bon Scott and his mates religiously taking the road every night to drink and listen to rock music. After six records, “Highway To Hell” was the first song to make the hitlist in the USA, being Bon Scott’s last song as lead singer as he died in 1980.
